Individual & Family Advocacy
Advocacy begins with a meeting or phone call for persons and families of any age, to help individuals and families:
- find services and access to other service providers such as mental health services or to locate emergency funding
- learn to be a self-advocate
Our Advocates also:
- seek increased involvement in the community.
- our advocates may attend meetings as part of Individual Education Planning team for students or Person Center Plan meetings for teens and adults.
- work with schools and agencies to help young adults transition from school to adult services.
- support individuals and families applying for or appealing SSI benefits
- help families to find respite providers
- locate summer camp programs or
- find a place for individuals to volunteer in their communities.
